Cold Weather Chili
- October 24th, 2008
Tonight is the perfect night for Chili in the Midwest. It’s cold and drizzling and nothing tastes better than Chili on a day like today. I have to admit that when I make Chili, I don’t follow a specific recipe. I throw together the items that I have in my refrigerator at any given time. Here’s what my chili usually includes:
2-3 cans of kidney beans and chili beans (either spicy or regular, depending on your taste), 1 lb of browned hamburger, 3 ribs of celery (chopped or diced), 1 quart of stewed or diced tomatoes, 1 Tbsp of chili powder, 1 (4 oz) can of drained mushrooms, 1 small onion diced, 1 Tbsp of sugar (either brown or granulated), 1 (6 oz) can of tomato paste.
I combine all of these ingredients and bring to a boil. Once boiling, I turn the heat down and let simmer for about an hour. Mmm good! Enjoy!
