French Toast Bake

This one is definetly one of my family’s favorites.  I wouldn’t exactly say that it’s breakfast… more a dessert.  But since it has eggs and it called french toast, I’d say that it qualifies as breakfast.

Toast
1 loaf french bread, sliced in 1/2″ slices
10 eggs
2 1/2 cups milk
1/2 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup melted butter
2 tsp cinnamon

Topping
1/2 cup melted butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Place slices in a greased 9 x 13″ pan. Blend all of the main ingredients with a whisk or blender. Pour the mixture slowly over and between the slices to coat the bread. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes. Remove form oven and spread the topping mixture on the bread. Bake for about 10 more minutes. Serves 8 to 12 people.
