Grandpa’s Chili

Yep, you’ve guessed it; this recipe is my grandpa’s famous chili! Every New Year’s, he makes this amazing chili and everyone scarfs it down. You’ll have to try it out for yourself if you don’t believe me!
Here’s what you need:
2 lbs ground beef
6 stalks celery cut fine
1/2 green pepper cut fine
1 large onion cut fine
2 qts stewed tomatoes
1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
2 Tbsp chili powder
3 (10 oz) cans red kidney beans
2 (10 oz) cans hot kidney beans
2 (4 oz) cans mushrooms, drained
1/4 c sugar
small amount of butter (about 2 Tbsp)
salt & pepper to taste
- In large pot, brown ground beef with onion.
- Add remaining ingredients
- Cook slowly for 2 hours over low heat.
