Is Winter Gear Weighing You Down?

Is your entry a dumping ground for coats, mittens, hats, scarves, shoes and bookbags? I love the freedom of summer… no jackets, no bundling up, no picking up the entry way every time someone enters or exits the house. However, there’s no use denying the fact that winter has arrived and is here to stay. I decided that something needed to be done so that I won’t have to spend the next 4-5 months cleaning up all of these things that accumulate so quickly. I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned it before, but I’m kind-of an organizational freak… some people may call it obsessive-compulsive. Nothing makes me feel better than having a place for everything and things in their places.

So, I decided that a trip to Target could solve my problem. I stopped by their Home Improvement section. I found just what I needed: ClosetMaid storage solutions! They make several items for organizing closets and rooms. I have a fairly deep closet in my entryway, so I was able to purchase 4 of the 31″ shoe shelves to put into the closet. But, I didn’t stop there! I also purchased the fabric boxes in several different colors - to hold scarves, mittens and hats (I really am refraining from writing on these storage totes to label each of them with what belongs in them. I want to be able to use them for toys later, and also don’t want people to know just how obsessive-compulsive I actually am)… on second thought, everyone who knows me already knows this. Hummm - maybe I WILL label them and just fold them up each year and keep them with the winter gear. I’ll have to think about it.

Here’s what my amazingly clean closet looks like:

It’s been about 4 days, and they system is working wonders. My girls love it because they can pick out their own accessories and put them away by themselves too. I have no complaints; it’s the best $70 that I’ve spent for a long time. I would definitely recommend these products to you as well!
