The Buzz About Yoga

I’ve been hearing nothing but great things about Yoga: the benefits to both body and mind. I had been curious about it for a while, so when I recently joined a new gym and found out that Yoga classes were offered, I decided that I HAD to try it. I’m not much for mediation and the out of body experience. But, I entered the studio with an open mind, rolled out my mat and waited for the instructor. I expected a young hippy-looking instructor. However, I was pleasantly surprised when a very regular-looking middle-aged woman presented herself as the instructor. Before I knew it, class was over. I left feeling completely relaxed and at ease with myself.

What a great start to my morning! I was however, skeptical about the actual workout that I got. We mostly worked on full body stretching. Although I didn’t break a sweat yesterday during the yoga session, I realize today how good I worked and stretched my muscles. I’m totally hooked! When I can home, I was researching more about Yoga; there are so many different kinds of classes. If you have classes offered in your area, I would definitely encourage you to go and try at least one session. Let me know what you think about yoga…

Thanks for the blog. You should check out Bikram yoga. It is one of the best workouts for the mind and body. You go through 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises in approximately 95 minutes. You perform all of this in a heated room, 95-105 degree, which is great for detoxing/cleansing the body of toxins built up in the body through the promotion of sweating. The heated room also protects to muscles from injury due to the heat. The heart, lungs, blood circulation, muscles, brain activity and mental capacity are all affected by particpating in the yoga. What is additionally unique with Bikram is that throughout the 26 postures two processes are involved Extension and Compression. These work together to deliver fresh oxygen to every joint, muscle, and organ within the human body. The stretching or compression temporarily cuts off blood flow to an area and a rush of fresh, oxygenated blood rushes into the area, rejuvenating the arteries, muscles, and removing toxins. Your mind is trained and cleared throughout the process and you leave feeling refreshed, more flexible, and renewed. Find a studio where you feel comfortable and welcomed, you will not be disappointed. Stick with it, each experience is unique and you will notice mind and body changes!
