The Cold Weather has Arrived!

Friday morning I awoke to a winter wonderland.  We had to dig out our snow pants and boots, winter coats, mittens and scarves; the kids and I were so excited that we were fully dressed and out in the front yard making snow angels and eating the freshly fallen snow by 7:45!  (yes, in the A.M.!)  Once we sufficiently stomped in all of the snow around the yard, we came in to have hot cocoa.  The girls and I spent the entire morning putting away all the summer coats, shoes and sandals, and then we had to get out all of the winter gear.

I was so excited to see the snow that I really really really wanted to get out all of my Christmas decorations and winterize our home.  However, I refrained.  My personal rule is that I can’t do that until at least Thanksgiving.

I was definitely caught up in the beauty of the season… until I realized that this beautiful snow had a very big downfall - what to do with the kids now that the weather no longer permits us to play outside when they get restless.  No more bike riding, no more sidewalk chalk, no more bubble blowing, no more trips to the park, no more kids playing around the neighborhood.  What a downer!  So, now I’m starring out the window wondering what I’m going to do at home with my kids all winter without losing my mind.

As the winter goes on, I’ll let you know what I’m doing to keep my kids busy without our daily outside exercise.  I really don’t let them watch more than 1-2 hours of television per day, so this could get interesting!  Please, I’m begging you; if you have any tips or fun things that we could do (that won’t cost me my right arm) - - please please please… SHARE!
